BMC’s Women Mentoring Women program is piloting an exciting new program to give immigrant women the opportunity to connect with a professional in their field. Based on recommendations from a region-wide study (please insert link to Needs Assessment Report) and conference BMC is offering an E-mentoring initiative for immigrant women in Peel Region.

Studies have shown that E-mentoring is equally beneficial to traditional (face-to-face) mentoring and is more popular for the following reasons:

  • Increased flexibility
  • Greater access for users (i.e. immigrant women, women in the workforce)
  • Cost effective (childcare & transportation costs)
  • Equalization of status
  • Decreased emphasis on demographics (race, age, ethnicity, ability, religion, etc.)
  • Enhances participants’ confidence building, and support for risk-taking Improves employees’
