BMC's Youth Leadership Project, Be The Change, aims to promote civic awareness and engagement amongst youth by providing them with training workshops to enhance their leadership capabilities and empower them to participate in the decision making processes in their community. Training workshops focus on the core competencies relevant to the curriculum of the program such as: Leadership, Advocacy, Public speaking, Political structures, Negotiation tactics, and Social Media.

Youth get a chance to visit the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and observe Ontario's MPP's, as they deliberate on various issues of the province. Alternatively, a visit to the Municipal Council may also be scheduled for the same purpose. Youth who graduate from the program can participate in the Youth Mentorship Training Program, designed to train youth to become successful mentors for other youth. This program is available to youth ages 15 – 24, with no other eligibility requirement
